Level 2 HealingĀ
Throughout history, many of the greatest natural healers have understood that most of what we classify in the twenty-first century as “diseases,” are really nothing more than different symptoms of the same underlying root issue. In other words, the notion of “disease,” in the sense that most people understand this term, is misleading and inaccurate. It is not the “diseases” themselves that we should be focused on, that is to say, the different symptoms we experience in our body. Rather, to naturally allow the body to heal itself, we should be focused on the primary underlying causative factor that is lurking behind nearly every one of our various disease symptoms. Remove the cause, remove the symptoms. Treat the symptoms, while leaving the root cause in tact, and you will spend years walking down a dead end street of hopelessness. Understanding and addressing the primary cause of most human illness is the only path to true freedom and natural healing.
So what is the underlying cause of most disease symptoms? I believe it can be summarized in one word: ACIDOSIS. In a few words: the build-up of acidic toxins in the body. These acidic toxins come from the poor quality of food we eat, environmental and chemical pollutants, toxic air, and last but not least, toxic thoughts and emotions.
There are only two basic sides to the chemical pH scale, which most people learned in high school. At a pH of 6.9 and below, we have the acidic side of the chemical scale. At a pH of 7.1 and above, we have the alkaline side of the pH scale.
As a species, human beings thrive at a slightly alkaline pH. For illustrative purposes, you could say that alkalinity represents the soothing, restorative, regenerative, calming, hydrating, and nourishing side of life. Acidity on the other hand represents the degenerative, corrosive, and inflammatory side of life. When a friend encourages you and speaks life over you, that causes an alkaline chemical reaction in your body, and you feel good. Conversely, when we are exposed to constant negativity, a victim-mentality, criticism, and fighting, this creates an environment of acidity within the chemical structures of our body.
In addition to the emotional and social sides of life, all foods interact with our own unique body chemistry to become either alkaline-forming or acid-forming after they have been digested and utilized for energy by our cells.
Tragically, the vast majority of Americans eat a diet made up of at least 90-95% highly acid-forming foods.
Meat, chicken, fish, pasteurized dairy, most cheeses, eggs, refined grains, refined sugar, foods heated at high temperatures, cooked oils, and virtually every processed and packaged food, are highly acid-forming in the body. Highly alkaline-forming foods are raw fruits, raw leafy greens, and lightly cooked/steamed vegetables. Some starches and “grains” such as quinoa, millet, and amaranth may also be slightly alkaline-forming depending on how they are prepared. As with the pH spectrum itself, different foods fall at different places on the spectrum. Some are more acidic or alkaline in the body than others. For example, most nuts, seeds, and whole grains, though these foods can be healthy and beneficial in small amounts, are slightly acid-forming in the body, though not at the levels of the highly acid-forming foods listed above.
In addition to the constant acidity most people are exposed to through their daily diet, we are now also exposed to an extensive list of acidic pesticides, heavy metals, exhaust fumes, skin care products, preservatives, pharmaceuticals, radiation, and pollution on a daily basis. We are living in the most acidic time in the history of the human race.
Understanding the nature of acidic toxins will help you see how they are in point of fact the root cause of most of our various symptoms of dis-ease. Acids cause inflammation and irritation. This is why so many doctors are now saying “inflammation is at the root of all disease.” In reality, it’s not inflammation, it’s acidosis. Inflammation is merely a symptom of excess acidity in the body. In other words, inflammation is a bodily response to acidosis. Acids also cause pain, burning, dryness, and heat. This is why so many conditions in the body, from arthritis to skin issues, are associated with these types of specific symtoms. Unbeknownst to most people, acids also cause the hardening and dehydration of fluid. This is why so many disease conditions are associated with hardened fluid, hardened masses, stones, hardened mucus, hardened lymph nodes, tumors, and cysts. In addition to these symptoms of acidosis, acidic fluid is also the ideal breeding ground for viruses, harmful bacteria, and other pathogens. In a state of acidosis we become prone to allergies, the common cold and flu, as well as many other types of harmful “infections.” This is why so many people today are fighting mysterious conditions such as “Lyme disease,” Epstein barr, and fibromyalgia. Acids also rob the body of alkaline minerals such as calcium, and therefore lead to muscle and bone weaknesses, fractures, sprains, and the tearing of soft tissue. As acidic toxins build-up in the body they further damage and undermine our organs of elimination, including the liver, kidneys, bowels, and lymphatic system. When the organs of elimination become compromised, we enter a viscous cycle in which more and more toxins are accumulating from the diet and environment, whilst the body is simultaneously losing its ability to naturally deal with and expel these toxins. This explains why disease symptoms often come in groups, and tend to snow ball one on top of the other.
Leaving aside rare genetic conditions, birth defects, and tramautic injuries, I do not believe disease is a mystery. It is simply chemistry. Many people find that when they simply get on the right side of alkaline chemistry, by eating the right diet, resting, and maintaining an attitude of self-empowerment and positivity, their symptoms of acidosis naturally begin to disappear.
Although this might be a paradigm shifting realization for most people, there is an extensive body of research in the medical literature which has now linked acidosis to every health issue imaginable. Always remember, alkalize, alkalize, alkalize! Eat alkaline-forming foods. Think alkaline thoughts. Hang out with alkaline people. Get good alkaline sleep. Your body chemistry is constantly in a state of flux. It is not fixed. This is actually good news. It means that for most people, acidosis and disease do not have to be permanent.
